Prep care guide
Please complete and follow along with the steps as described below. It is important to prepare properly for your spray tan, this will help your spray to last as long as possible and then fade evenly. This guide is meant to help you complete all necessary steps. It is important to note that if this guide is not followed then the final result of your tan is likely to be negatively impacted.
Leading up to your appointment it is good to create a good base and routine for your spray tan to thrive. Please be sure to use spray tan friendly products before and after your spray tan. Create the routine of moisturizing your skin 1-2 times each day this will also prepare your skin to be a beautiful base.
48 HOURS PRIOR
If you prefer waxing, please complete so about 48 hours prior to your tan appointment. Please complete all other appointments in this time frame as well including nails, eyelash & eyebrow appointments.
24 HOURS PRIOR
It is best to complete your preparatory shower about 24 hours prior to your tan. This shower will be quite extensive as it will include exfoliating, shaving, and thorough washing. Exfoliates should be oil free with sugar, salt, or walnut shell powder. You will want to focus on dry areas including your knees, elbows, ankles, and hands. It is important to shave with a sharp razor as to prevent cutting or tearing the skin and to ensure a smooth result. Avoid oil based cleansers, bar soaps, and Dove products. After your shower please refrain from applying heavy moisturizers and body butters.
DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT:
Do not shower within 4 hours of your appointment time. During your pre-appointment shower please use gentle oil free cleansers, thoroughly rinse all soap residue off of your body. It is best to be sparing with soap by only using it on areas as needed. Avoid putting anything on your skin as this will create a barrier between your skin and the tan. Common overlooked parts of our routine that are important to avoid are the application of lotions, makeup, perfumes and deodorants.
Wear loose dark clothing, maxi dresses are a great option as well. Avoid wearing tight items including leggings, sports bras, bras, or compression socks. Avoid light colored fabrics. Avoid wearing a lot of jewelry, the items will need to be taken off during your appointment and the material may negatively interact with the tanning formula during development.
Appointment procedures
Wear loose dark clothing, maxi dresses are a great option as well. Avoid wearing tight items including leggings, sports bras, bras, or compression socks. Avoid light colored fabrics. On the occasion that it rains on the day of your appointment you must dress properly. Your attire should cover your entire body, and when walking outside in the rain the most exterior layer should be waterproof. If you do not have waterproof layers it is best to wear multiple layers as this prevents the water from soaking onto the skin. Avoid wearing a lot of jewelry, the items will need to be taken off during your appointment and the material may negatively interact with the tanning formula during development.
After care guide
WITHIN 24 HOURS FOLLOWING YOUR APPOINTMENT:
It is best to avoid wearing tight clothing while your tan is developing (8-12 hours), this helps to reduce friction, allows the skin to breathe, and prevents sweat from being trapped. It is best to avoid sweating for at least 24 hours following your appointment. Sweating will create a streaky and uneven final result.
YOUR FIRST RINSE:
It is important that you follow the rinsing directions from your spray tan artist. Your first rinse will occur between 1-4 hours (for rapid formula) or 6-8 hours (for classic formula) after your tan application. For your first rinse use lukewarm water, not steamy or hot, and just your hand to coax excess formula off your skin without using soap. You should rinse until the water runs clear. Following your rinse pat dry and continue wearing looser clothing.
DAILY CARE:
SHOWERING:
It is best to avoid overly hot and steamy showers, exfoliates, loofahs and rough washcloths. Be sure to use spray tan safe products. Following each shower you should pat dry with a soft towel.
This is best practice to avoid friction and lock in moisture.
MOISTURIZING:
It is imperative to use lotion to moisturize your skin at least once per day. This extends the life of your spray tan and helps to ensure even fading. It is typically most convenient to apply lotion all over your body after a shower.
REMOVAL:
When it is time for your tan to go you may help to remove it from your skin by exfoliating. In most cases tans do not require assistance they will naturally fade & excuse themselves. And when the sadness sets in do not worry just be sure to book your next appointment 🙂

A great general rule… spray tans are best preserved by avoiding oily, acidic, harsh, and rough products which strip the skin and breakdown the spray tan.
